Krav Maga Worldwide partnered with AEGIS Security & Investigations on Monday, May 20th, 2013 to offer a unique training opportunity designed to educate participants on active shooter events and defensive tactics necessary to thwart an attack. Our training began with an overview of pre-incident indicators of active shooters as well identifying base line untrained reactions. After identifying the natural reactions, participants were given the tools needed to begin adjusting their mindset to effective manage an active shooter incident.
After discussing several case studies, participants began the physical component of the afternoon. Our training is designed to be a progressive system utilizing natural reactions to defend and counter attack both unarmed and armed combatants. After a series of Krav Maga unarmed drills including punches, kicks, elbows, and blocks, we turned our attention to armed attackers. Drawing from the techniques just taught, participants were shown two methods to disarm and counter an armed attack. By the end of the day, over 125 security professionals were disarming their partners’ training weapon, effectively mitigating the active shooter threat!
